microflex는 Linear mode와 향상된 resolution을 가지는 Reflector mode의 두 가지 모델이 있으며 합성 고분자의 분자량 및 polydispersity (Mw/Mn)값 측정과 구조분석을 위하여 사용이 가능하고 기초적인 MALDI-TOF를 이용한 광범위한 분야에 사용 된다. 특히 microflex는 미생물 동정용 소프트웨어인 Biotyper와 함께 미생물 동정 분야에서 널리 쓰이고 있으며 MALDI Biotyper는 수 분내에 정확한 미생물 동정이 가능하여 최근 미생물 동정 분야에 혁신적으로 사용이 되고 있다. mircoflex는 Bruker사의 MALDI-TOF중 유일한 benchtop 형식의 질량분석기로 이동이 자유로우며 사용이 쉽고 간편하여 널리 사용되고 있다.
